Description
The accommodation is located on the ground floor and is accessed from the street via an entrance shared with another apartment on a characteristic narrow street in the neighborhood a few steps from the Torre dello Sperone which was part of the ancient Pisan fortifications.
The windows of the bathroom and bedroom overlook a bright internal courtyard belonging to another property while the living room-kitchen window overlooks the street. Modern double glazed windows and blackout blinds ensure privacy and tranquillity.
Given the limited spaces, the accommodation is unfortunately not suitable for the disabled.
You will stay in the heart of one of the most characteristic and animated historic districts of Cagliari, Stampace born in the XIII century, a few steps from the main streets of bars and restaurants where the city’s nightlife takes place but at the same time you will be in a quiet area as the street is on the edge of the local streets.
On the street where the accommodation is located parking is not allowed but a few minutes’ walk away from the flat you’ll find a large paid car park in the street or at the train station, bus stops, grocery stores, shops, the opera house and the port, the train station (connected to the airport) and suburban buses at 550 m.
From the airport you can reach the city by train in 5 minutes at a cost of €1.30. From the station you can take a walk of about 5 minutes. On foot it is possible to reach and visit the entire city center (Villanova and Marina districts) and the upper city (medieval Castello district), where there are shops, restaurants, public parks, museums.
The district:
Stampace (Istampaxi in Sardinian) is one of the four historic districts of the city of Cagliari.
The district, located in the historic city center, west of the Castle of Cagliari, was founded by the Pisans in the XIII century and they equipped it with a modest fortification system (of which the Sperone tower remains).
Since the Stampace foundation it has been a district inhabited mainly by merchants, artisans and petty bourgeois, until it gradually lost this characterization with the approach of the contemporary era. Stampace borders to the west with the “borgo”, today a district, of Sant’Avendrace, in the past one of the most peripheral and poorest areas of the city. The numerous archaeological sites located in the area of Stampace and Sant’Avendrace have great historical and artistic importance, evidence of the Cagliari of the Punics and Romans, in addition to the few traces of the judicial capital of Santa Igia, in the area bordering the pond of Santa Gilla.
Today it is probably the liveliest district of the city, with large squares, pedestrian streets where citizens meet for a stroll and for the aperitif ritual and where there are numerous bars, restaurants and pubs of all kinds.
